Hey everyone, it’s A31 and I hope you’re doing well. Today, I’m writing a new blog post tutorial about the PlayStation 4, specifically how to update it using a USB drive.
Firstly, you’ll need to connect the USB drive to your computer and check that it is formatted as FAT32. To do this, right-click on the drive, go to properties, and make sure the file system is marked as FAT32. If it’s not, you can format it as FAT32 by right-clicking, selecting format, and choosing FAT32. Sometimes it might be exFAT, so make sure to double-check.
Next, create a new folder on the USB drive called « PS4. » Inside this folder, create another folder called « Update. » That’s all you need to do with the USB drive for now.
Now, go online and search for « PS4 updates. » You can find the link to the website in the description. Make sure to choose the French version if you’re in France. Download the update, either onto your desktop or directly onto the USB drive. The file should be named « PS4UPDATE.PUP. » If you see a file with « 1.2 » in parentheses, it means you’ve already downloaded it once. You’ll need to rename the file so that it ends with « UPDATE.PUP. »
Once the download is complete, you can close the browser. Now, copy the downloaded file from your desktop and paste it into the « Update » folder on the USB drive. After that, disconnect the USB drive from your computer and plug it into your PS4. Check that everything is in order by going to settings, then system software update. If the latest version is already installed, you won’t be able to reinstall it.
That’s it! This is the method you should follow to update your PS4 using a USB drive. If you encounter any issues, such as the PS4 not recognizing the file or not finding anything, it’s likely because of an error you made in the folder names or file name. Double-check each step to make sure you didn’t miss anything.
